The new line is equivalent to pressing <enter> or <return> at the
gnuplot prompt. It is required to tell gnuplot that the command is
complete and should be executed.

__gnuplot_raw__ sends exactly what you include in the expression and
nothing more. If you do not include the new line (or a semi-colon), the
next command to gnuplot will just carry on after the 't' of "reset".
