The default prefix is /usr/local, right? Are all octave files put in subdirectories of the prefix directory? And do all created file/directory names begin with "octave"? In other words, does this always find every octave file?:
ls /usr/local/*/octave*It could find files that are not part of an octave installation, but will it miss any files that are part of some octave installation?
