warning: save: Inf or NaN values may not be reloadable

When I save matrices with NaNs I get the following warning: "warning:
save: Inf or NaN values may not be reloadable."

I can turn the warning off. But what concerns me more is that the
values may not be reloadable. Under what conditions are they not
reloadable?
