Octave-forge has a symbolic toolbox with arbitrary precision arithmetic.

x=v=one=vpa("1");
for k=1:1000, v=v*x; x=x+one; end

Hi!
I have a problem in calculating 1000! in octave. By default, octave
will return "ans=Inf". So I have to write a C program with GNU MP lib.
It is much more difficult to write a C program. Is there a method to
calculate very large/small numbers in octave? I mean can I force Octave
to do all its operators with high precision? No matter whether it use
GNU MP or other libs or built-in ones. Thanks!
Regards.
