Hi SHai,
Thanks for your answer. The only reason I installed 2.1.42 was because that was the version that had the obvious install. I would be happy to install a newer version in my Linux machine and specially in my windows XP machine if someone could point me to the right instructions to do so.

However be aware that octave 2.1.42 for windows does not support dynamic
loading so if the package has any oct files in it, it won't work. If it
consists of m-files only than it will probably works (although 2.1.42 is
pretty old)
