GOOD IDEA!  

Actually that more relates to what happens.  

I have an editor that can change all my 
save -ascii
to 
save -text 
pretty painlessly

As bad as it makes octave, octave's goal is to be
compatible with matLab language, but there's nothing wrong
having functionally better "extra's" here and there.
