MacOS X, hang on texi2html during install

I'm trying to install octave on MacOS X (2.1.64) and it hangs at 
(texi2html -expandinfo -split_chapter -I . -I ./.. octave.texi
) every time. Any thoughts on how to diagnose and fix this? I don't 
need html documentation, but couldn't figure out an option to turn it 
off.
