Hi,

You have an octave-mode within emacs, It provides parent and syntax highlighting, auto indentation and a lot of features. In emacs, type M-x octave-mode. If not, see the octave doc concerning emacs

PS : BTW, if you have Matlab you can use the matlab editor to type your own octave m files :-)
