The problem is nothing to do with the version of octave-forge
but rather the version of g++... g++ 3.4.x is picky about the
use of "template class" instantiations... In 3.3.x you could
drop the "class" keyword, which is what you'd see at the lines
mentioned in the compiel errors. Fixed in later versions of 
octave-forge and so you shoudlk get a clean 3.4.x compild...
