Inline functions work like the equivalent matlab versions, the only thing
is that the only octave function adapted for inline functions at he moment
is "quad". "fsolve" and family won't work with inline yet....

This doesn't stop you from using them in your own code in the same way as
with matlab..

As for concatenation of structs, an example is "a.x = 1; b.x = 2; c = [a,b]"

For user defined types, see the sparse, galois and fixed point types is
octave-forge, these are types that are external to the core octave code,
and till recently have been in the unpriviledged position of not having
access to concatenation or before 2.1.53 even to load/save, but not
any more. Sparse, galois and fixed point types in the octave-forge CVS
now all implement load/save and  concatenation..
