Hi,
I'm using a package called WaveLab802 which was written for MATLAB.
My analyses go real slow, but the package comes with these .mex file

octave?
It has been a while since I looked, but I believe you can compile
the mex files in wavelab for octave. You will need octave-forge
(http://octave.sf.net) for mex support. A number of core routines
missing from octave are also available there.
