Subject: | Uninstalling windows octave destroyed my cygwin installation! |

G***D**M F***** Octave destroyed my cygwin
installation for the second time. It destroyed cygwin on install and
destroyed my new cygwin installation AGAIN on uninstall.
The first time I installed the windows version of
octave it took down my installation of cygwin. Not only would octave not
run but neither would any of the 50 packages I installed for
cygwin.
So, after a month or two, I went to the house of a
friend who has a high speed internet connection and made a new cygwin
archive.
After installing it, the programs in the new
installation seem to work although programs I installed separately like xemacs
are still dead.
Octave still didn't work, so I uninstalled it...
And it destroyed cygwin again.
I just reinstalled cygwin AGAIN. It said that
it didn't need to install anything and has restored registry settings so that it
seems to work.
XEmacs is still an Octave casualty.
