How do you play audio and playaudio.m

How do you play audio?  How do you store it to transfer to
others for them to play in some standard playback manner?
 

I have a one second X vector of 8000 but get a message upon
trying to run 
       playaudio.m

cat: not found


What is this? 

so what's wrong?
