plotting data with thicker lines

Dear Octave Help,

I have found in the octave and gnuplot documentation that there is a linewidth 
option, but I can't seem to get it to work.  I'm producing two-dimensional line 
plots of data, which look nice on the screen but are so thin when printed that 
they're practically invisible.  Could you please help me with this?
