There is a binary installer for 2.1.42 at http://www.site.uottawa.edu/~adler/octave which I have used successful on Windows 2000 and Windows ME. It can coexist with a cygwin installation since it
uses separate registery keys.

Thanks very much. Actually I have now installed ver.2.1.36 and it appears that
Cygwin is now not working properly. Should I UNinstall both then install 2.1.36
then Cygwin? I shall be happy for suggestions.

I might be easier to install the last version for which a binary is
available. Then you get an .exe file and even I was able to install 2.1.36
on a PC with Windows 95. I did not even know about the Linux Cygwin but that
was installed also. Plus gnuplot 3.8i with menus (File, Plot, Functions,
General, Axes, Chart, Styles, 3d, Help) was installed as well.

Hi, Everybody,
I have a problem with installing Octave under Cygwin. I have already
installed Cygwin. Could someone tell me where to find the detailed
procedure or tell me exactly what to do. I have downloaded Octave 2143
and I am runnung Windows 98 SE.
Thanks very much. I will certainly appreciate it.
