cmex problem

hii all,
downloaded the wavelab.tar.Z file and untarred it,
however as per instructions at
http://www-stat.stanford.edu/~wavelab/WaveLab701.html

however on going into
/home/sourav/octave-2.1.34/WaveLab/MEXSource

and saying installMEX or installMEX.old it gives the
fillowing error..

CPAnalysis.c
cmex: Command not found.
WPAnalysis.c
cmex: Command not found.
FWT_PO.c...
....

can someone help me out with this, i have very little
idea on cmex.
