While installing Octave under Solaris 8 (also called 5.8 and 2.8). I found
that I had to make a link:
ln -s /usr/ccs/bin/nm /usr/local/bin/nm
or ./configure would complain there was no compatible fortran compiler.
We are using the SUNOS SC3.0 f77 compiler (vintage 1993).
This is a followup to a message from Daniel Heiserer on 17 August 1998,
confirming his suspicions, and is mostly intended so that this non-obvious
but important fact would get into the new mailing list archives. (Even
three years later).
