Mr. Barnes:
>I'm trying to install octave on a dec.

>can anybody help, or am I some kind of spanner?
It maybe that Octave may be missing certain libraries. One that I needed to
make it run was lbstd++. However I am running Linux; I don't know what kind of
OS is on DEC. Perhaps you can get a binary from http://www.rpmfind.net. I
believe there is a site in the UK, as well as the one in Massachussettes.
Good Luck,
Jonathan
P.S. You are not a spnner; these problems occur. Octave is well worth the
trouble.
