ODEs with parameters

Is there some other way, (other than using     get_global_value()  ), to
dll compile a ODE definition
file to be used with lsode() that depends on parameters ? ... in other
words, since lsode wants a funct defined as dx = f(x,t) how may I pass
to f() some paramenters ??

(p.s. I just started using octave... coming from matlab)
