hi! if you need a patch to the source there's one used by us for saving
structs and lists...
we have been using it since octave 2.0.13, as i recall version 2.0.11
doesn't have
lists, but you can use part of the patch... the patch also corrects a
bug when
saving empty strings...

etc....
