The patch you proposed me doesn't seem to work fine. 
I've performed the following actions:
- /usr/local/src/patch -po your_patch
- cd octave-2.04
- make
- make install
and then run again the simulations. But they seem to have gone into
infinite loop... I don't have time to check the code myself right now,
and using some tricks to do my simulations. Anyway I think this feedback
might be useful to you for the next release...
