help -i installation problem

Octave was just installed for me on an HP Unix system.  I installed and
used it previously on Solaris systems, but I am stumped.  When I issue:
        help -i
(or help -i help)

I get the following:
    info: Terminal type "xterm" is not smart enough to run Info.

I have tried this on both xterms and dtterms with similar response.  Any
real 'help' would be greatly appreciated.
