Platform limitations? |

I am a student and I am happily using Octave for most of my computational
work. Currently we're analysing a time serie of data which we got as plain
ASCII, an approx 2 MB large file. I loaded it happily with the `load'
command both on Alpha and SPARC platforms (where I have installed the pre-
compiled Octave). Later I got home to my Linux box (with Octave 2.0.2) but
there loading the data does not work. It says: "load: failed to read
matrix from file `vvn10'". Is it too large? (Weird, because all three
systems has 32 MB RAM. In my machine I have another 32 MB swap and no X
running.) Perhaps it is stupid to put all that data into memory before
processing, but it runs so much faster having it in an array. Is there
a better way which is feasible without moving to Pascal/C/Fortran?
Any information on this topic is welcome. Thank you.
