I've had successfully compiled octave on a P-75 running Linux 1.2.8 and
xfree86.3.1.1. However, when I compile it on a 486-50 machine, everything
went fine (took about 2.5 hours) untill the final linking. The error message
was: virtual memory exhausted. I have 16meg ram on that machine.
The same problem happened when I tried to compile transfig.
What wrong here?
