# No answer the first time, so here goes. Is it possible to open
#multiple gnuplot instances from a single octave session? I have in mind
#something like the figure() command of Matlab, which allows you to
#open multiple graphics windows, and decode where to send your next plot.

no. i don't think you can start two sessions of gnuplot at the same time on
octave as its implemented now. john eaton wrote sometime back that he
is working on support for pipes in octave. when pipes are implemented, then
it should be possible to write simple scripts (.m files) to support multiple
gnuplot sessions.
