There is no built-in/predefined way to do this. In order to do it
you'll have to write the make rules that compile your code in such a way
that they do this.
For example,
%.o : %.c
@echo "Compiling $<"
@$(CC) $(CFLAGS) $(CPPFLAGS) -o $@ -c $<
will do it.
