This is a hard topic... The code isn't evolving much, that's true. But
the project itself isn't abandoned. Ideas for Hurd-NG (a "next
generation" Hurd) are on the way. Some people are still working on the
GNU Mach based, current Hurd. In short, the project is slowly evolving.
It may one day evolve faster, with more public interest, but that may
not happen soon (not too late either, hopefully).

I can tell, however, that many people are still interested in the
project, following its development and the many ideas suggested around
it.
