Crosshurd? Hmmm... I'm not familiar with the status of that package. Maybe someone else can inform us on that. Why don't you try installing Hurd from one of the Debian GNU/Hurd CD's instead? You should have no problem with those.

Crosshurd doesn't create an /etc/fstab file, which will leave the root fs in read only state after boot. After running crosshurd, you need to create the fstab file manually before booting.
