GNU Mach and the OSKit Project

Hello!

GNU Mach needs the OSKit Project in order to work. This has several
disadvantages:
- you need to compile foreign libraries for a kernel, which is at least
counterintuitive
- these libraries are not optimized for GNU Mach
- You need 3 software packages to provide the core functionality of an OS:
The GNU Hurd, GNU Mach and OSKit, while e.g. Linux needs just one package
(however, this is no appraisement (is this the right word? :-) ) of the
principles of GNU Hurd and Linux)
- the OSKit is at the moment not portable (at least not in a way that other
famous kernels are) => GNU Mach is not portable => GNU Hurd is not portable
- GNU Mach would be easier to maintain if it would be a sovereign,
independent project
- if a problem occurs in GNU Mach which has its origin in the OSKit, a GNU
Mach-developer won't able to fix this (if he isn't also an OSKit-developer)

So wouldn't it be preferable to have the code from the OSKit used by GNU
Mach merged into GNU Mach? The necessary code could also be copied (and
adjusted) from the Linux kernel.
Provided that someone would do the work, wouldn't this be the better way?
