Hello Eric,

From memory and experience, the example in the manual *is* a simple
example. Can you expand a bit on how it's not serving your purposes, or
what about it seems too intractable? I've used GSL's nonlinear least
squares fitting extensively, but I'm not sure what to offer you as I'm not
sure what the misunderstanding is.
