I compiled latest GRUB2 commit but want to install it to a USB flash drive (before desktop) to test first... how would I do that?

As usual, with grub-install and proper parameters (boot directory, boot device or EFI directory...)

If I'd done it before, I wouldn't have asked, so that's unhelpful.

You know how to compile GRUB but never used it before ? I don't buy that.
I'd never installed GRUB to a USB flash drive.

I did 'grub-install /dev/sdd' but it doesn't boot my operating systems because apparently module files (need ufs, dfly) weren't installed.

Facts, please.
When I tried to load modules part_dfly, ufs2, GRUB said they weren't found.
