I also cannot compile grub git with the following error message:
en@arabic.po:6458: 'msgstr' is not a valid C format string, unlike 'msgid'.
Reason: The character that terminates the directive number 1 is not a valid
conversion specifier.
/usr/bin/msgfmt: found 1 fatal error
