Yeah, I figured it out. It wasn't that; it was an erroneous fstab entry (wrong UUID from old /boot).

os-prober first needs to detect root of another OS. I understand that
you have LVM install - unless VG for another OS is active, os-prober
won't see it. It does not activate volumes itself.
