OK I suspect your previous installation was also called "ubuntu" and
menu entry was overwritten. Could you please show "ls -lR" for both
partition /dev/sda1 and /dev/sdb1? If they are not mounted, mount them
temporary, like

mount -r /dev/sda1 /mnt
ls -lR /mnt
umount /mnt
mount -r /dev/sdb1 /mnt
ls -R /mnt
umoutn /mnt

as well as "blkid" output. Thank you.
