Environment variable access from theme pack

I have grub2 served up from a PXE server.

Is it possible to dynamically set the text of a theme by setting it to an environment variable?

For example, if I wanted to set the "title-text" of a theme to ${pxe_default_mac} is that possible?

In my experimentation, I have not found a way for this to work.
