What makes you think a bootloader should care? Its purpose is loader, not 
kernel. I boot both 32 bit Linux and 64 bit Linux with Grub, installed at a 
Grub binary prompt booted to Knoppix 32 bit. Other loaders can do it. Why 
shouldn't Grub2?
