Michael, thank you for your reply,
I am confident to assume that the Kernel is not broken (brand-new installation
of Ubuntu 9.10). Well, I guess so.
What do you mean with "the wrong system type". AFAIK I have not specified any
target system up to now, just (in the language of GRUB2)
"root" and "kernel" ...?
One issue could be that if I boot via SystemRescueDisk and look into /boot/grub
of the /dev/md0 (software RAID1 device), I cannot find a
file stage1 - which BTW is what the SuperGrubDisk complains about if I choose
to repair automatically.
Is this file /boot/grub/stage1 necessary?
My assumption is that: if the stage1 file would be there, the next step would
be: load the kernel. Am I right?
Cheers,
Andi
