Hello, everyone. It seems that downloading just the same
old GPL for testing isn't enough for everyone. ;) Particularly,
it doesn't give good measure of 0.5.0's enhanced capability to
transfer content of more realistic sizes. So there's now
something bigger than the good old GPL "officially" downloadable,
a 3MB video/mpeg stream inserted to a reliable node. You
can search for it with keyword 'alien' or download it
directly by
# gnunet-download -o "Aliensong.mpeg" -- \
22BC3B01EF16C2814C23D0401D6C54FFD82C5AB2 \
8998DE34E06F380661B4EBC5991D06C90CD69CFA 7A1AC901 3201028
But by all means, explore around. There should already be some
user-provided content available.
A bit of pedantic edumacation to the end: GNUnet provides
file-sharing with 'sharing' emphasized. Although a file is
spread and duplicated when downloaded by users (allowing
increased efficiency and potentially over 100% availability
outside original inserting node), the only way to be totally
sure of files availability is sharing (inserting/indexing) that
file on your own permanent node. Those familiar with Freenet and
its hit-and-run insertion tactics should keep in mind that
such will not work on current GNUnet, but may instead pollute
the search key space with files that are mostly unavailable
when you stop your node.
So let your nodes stay fast and true by the content of your choice!
;D
