Crescendi attachment

I'm trying to control how the crescendi and decrescendi are attached
on the X axis. I tried playing with hairpin's properties like this:

  \property Voice.Hairpin \override #'extra-extent-X = #'(8 . 8)

But the crescendi always on the right of the note they are attached
to. I looks like that :

         |    |
         |    |
        /    /
          >>>>

But I would prefer this :

         |    |
         |    |
        /    /
        >>>>>>
