You need to add to the `insert-pair-alist' variable the pairs corresponding to those keys. For example: (add-to-list 'insert-pair-alist '(?* ?*)) (add-to-list 'insert-pair-alist '(?$ ?$)) (add-to-list 'insert-pair-alist '(?% ?%))
