``Just work'' in what sense? Can you describe the simplest set of
features, from the user point of view, that would satisfy you?

I do have something that works:
"M-: (mail-unquote-printable-region (mark) (point) nil nil t) RET
but I doubt that this can be described as ``elegant''. Which is why I
asked.
