termcap is the system coming from BSD. terminfo is SysV, its files can be found in /usr/share/terminfo. The termcap entries are ASCII, terminfo is binary, compiled. tic, tack, toe, captoinfo, infotocap are binaries from terminfo. You can try an 'apropos terminfo' ...
