Have you tried using http:// URLs instead of the file:/ URLs?
If I remember correctly this could be part of the problem. Otherwise I am not sure whether the charmer interface is still in use somewhere.
I would recommand using one of the php interfaces that are more lightweight.

Hello!

Well... As written in last mail after I connected to the gift server I can't see any pictures in the charmer frame. I've read in this links

http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/help-gift/2002-03/msg00040.html
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/help-gift/2006-10/msg00008.html
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/help-gift/2004-09/msg00003.html
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/help-gift/2004-04/msg00013.html

some solutions, so I tried to apply them.

I've launched the client (with appletview Charmer.html) from the same location of the images.

I've assigned values of environment variables (JAVA_HOME and PATH) in accord with my java installation (/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun). Anyway I still can't see the pictures. After I've selected "Fetch a random set of image", if I've selected a QUERY, I push "Execute query" button I see a grey empty window.

Can be a problem with my java version (I'm still using Java 6) ? Some ideas?

In the shell where I've launched "appletview Charmer.html" there are:
