this is one of the weak points of inverted files, you normally need to regenerate them if you add images. Large systems often have one large inverted file and a small one that is used to add images. Every once in a while the new large inverted file is generated by adding those of the small one. This saves time for trhe regeneration as small files are much faster to build.
This has not yet been done with gidt but would be interesting to see.
Of course, you do not need to re-extract the features of the existing images again.
Hi Henning,

thank you for that resumee. Does this apply to deleting images as well ? Currently I still scratch my head about HOW I merge the "small inverted file" with the big one. Or can I use both together in conjunction within the same collection ?

Hi all,

after fiddling with the gift server and add-collection I got the first results. That is very good. But, after "initializing" the collection with add-collection I would like to know if it is possible to add single images afterwards ( I already have an indexing workflow for meta-elements, primary
colors etc ) without the neccessity to run the whole indexer again.

Also, what do I have to do when I want to delete images from my collection on the filesystem ?
