1) Thanks. I would like to take the opportunity to send you a version
that is called 0.1.15 on my machine. I'll do so tomorrow. I would be
glad if you'd test this.

2) No, this is not absolutely necessary in order to make kde work :-)
There is a konqueror plugin in kdegraphics that enables you to use the
GIFT via KDE. It's quite neat.
