snake.gif is an animated gif?
Then probably we have the following error: convert makes multiple images, for 
example tmp4592.ppm.1 through tmp4592.ppm.42. However, as you can see, the 
script assumes things to be in tmp4592.ppm without any plusses. The fix 
should be easy.
