1. put emacs in a better place.
I use c:/emacs/emacs/23.3/*

2. set up the paths in your environment to use the 8.3 name.

In the CMD window, type
dir /x

Usually (but it is machine specific), you will find
C:\Program Files\GNU Emacs 23.3\bin\runemacs.exe
can be represented as
c:\progra~1\gnuema~1.3\bin\runemacs.exe

Hi there,

Config: CTEX2.9+Emacs 23.3+AUCTeX11.86+Yap 2.9

Source Link in the DVI file is no problem. I use Emacs as the editor of Inverse DVI search. The command line in Yap options are:

C:\Program Files\GNU Emacs 23.3\bin\emacsclientw.exe -na "C:\Program Files\GNU Emacs 23.3\bin\runemacs.exe"  +%l %f

However, when the dvi and tex files in a diretory which path includes space, double click on the dvi file in Yap, Emacs starts but cannot find the correct path and Tex file(When using winedt, it will be OK). For example, when the path is  "c:\new folder\", Emacs create two buffers:

    new                        0  Fundamental      c:/new
    simple.tex               0  LaTeX/MS          c:/new folder/folder/simple.tex.

How to deal with the space in the path when yap.exe calls emacs as the editor of inverse DVI search?

Thanks.

Jin Lin
