I'm using GNU Emacs 22.0.50.1 (i386-mingw-nt5.0.2195) of 2006-03-21 on
YAMALOK, which I obtained as a binary. It's not yet released, though,
but it works fine, except for GNUServ. Prior to upgrading, I was using
version 21.3.50.
The binaries I use do not come with an installer. I simply copy files
from the archive file onto my hard drive (or CD).
Please see ...
http://www.gnu.org/software/emacs/emacs.html#Stable
and ...
http://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/emacs/windows/
You might see references to version 21.4. AFAIK, this update contains
nothing helpful for Windows users. So the version 21.3 BIN files at the
FTP site are as up-to-date as you need.

What is the latest stable release of Emacs for Windows? Is it already
packaged using Windows Installer, does it use a non-standard installer
like Inno Setup or InstallShield, or is it just an unpackaged binary
release? I'm still using Emacs 21.2, but I'd like to upgrade.
Best wishes,
Matthew
