Finally, I've found the reason. Autocompletion of remote files under
Windows did work only with some rogue hacks, which did eliminate the
drive letter from file name expansion of absolute paths. These hacks
had some undesired side effects, and they were excluded end of April.

In order to get autocompletion back, we would need a more clean way
how to handle drive letters in file names (or maybe just I would need
a better understanding of such Windows interna). For the time being,
I'ld like to put it to the todo list, because the Emacs maintainers
are very busy in preparing the 22.1 release.
