[h-e-w] Problem sending mail w/ Gnus

User-agent:	Gnus/5.1003 (Gnus v5.10.3) Emacs/21.3 (windows-nt)

I'm using Gnus 5.10.3 and get this message when I try and send a mail
message:

   connection failed: connection refused, mailhost.ray.com, SMTP

If I go ping mailhost.ray.com or run gnus-summary-rescan-group, it
will then go off and send the message. Anyone else seen this and know
how to fix it? I'm on Win2k, SP3, GNU Emacs 21.3.1. Thanks.
